* the centrality Jesus Christ, His uniqueness, example, and message

* a recognition of the essential spiritual nature of life

* a recognition of truth arising from paradox, images and story

* desire for experience as well as knowledge,

* affirming the importance of the “subjective” and mystical dimension

* intellectual learning is utilized to support spiritual realization

* emphasizing participation over a spectator mentality

* openness to and a desire for community

* core beliefs with a variety of perspectives are compatible

* an emphasis on practical answers: “walk” over “talk”

* order in community from webs of connection as well as structure

* an emphasis on journey and process as well as focus on a goal

* skeptical of of authority which comes from merely holding a position

* leadership is by wisdom and example, not just knowledge or role
